BITWISE ROLLS OUT INNOVATIVE ACTIVE ETF WITH BITCOIN AND GOLD EXPOSURE

Bitwise Asset Management has introduced a new actively managed exchange-traded fund (ETF) blending Bitcoin, gold, and other precious metals to hedge against currency debasement. Announced on January 22 in partnership with Proficio Capital Partners, the fund provides a flexible alternative to traditional stock-and-bond portfolios amid rising debt and monetary expansion.

ETF Structure and Strategy

The fund, named the Bitwise Proficio Currency Debasement ETF (BPRO, NYSE), uses an active approach to adjust asset exposure depending on market conditions. Unlike static allocation funds, it combines Bitcoin, gold, silver, other precious metals, and mining equities while maintaining a minimum 25% allocation to gold at all times. The strategy rotates between digital and physical stores of value, with Bitcoin positioned as digital scarcity complementing gold’s inflation-hedge role.

Early Trading and Investor Response

On its first trading day, the ETF recorded roughly $13.2 million in volume and reached $52.4 million in assets under management, signaling initial investor interest. The fund targets capital appreciation, has a 0.96% expense ratio, and benefits from Bitwise’s crypto expertise combined with Proficio’s experience in precious metals.

Expansion and Market Positioning

The launch aligns with Bitwise’s broader expansion in regulated markets. Earlier in January, the firm listed seven physically backed crypto exchange-traded products on Nasdaq Stockholm, including Bitcoin and Ethereum ETPs, staking-focused products, and a Bitcoin-gold blended ETP. The firm aims to bridge traditional portfolios with digital assets, meeting growing demand for regulated crypto exposure in the U.S. and Europe.
